How to Develop a Positive Financial Attitude

Sharing is caring!

Why do you need to develop a positive financial attitude? Can’t you just go with the flow and see money as a necessary evil? You could do that and money will always elude you, or you could change the way you think about money now and improve your financial situation.

Here are some of the basic reasons why you need to change your mind now.

  1. The way you look at money drives your financial decisions. If you stop feeling so frustrated and unhappy about them, you will open your mind to new possibilities and to smarter ways of making and managing your money.
  2. If you change your financial attitude to positive, you will be able to overcome challenges related to money more easily.
  3. You will be able to learn how to better manage your money.

Forgive your financial mistakes. Instead of biting yourself endlessly, you should:

  1. Acknowledge what happened
  2. Learn from your mistake
  3. Correct yourself and don’t do it again anymore.

Set financial goals

You should set financial goals if you are to ever improve your financial situation. If you don’t have a clear focus on where you want to be 10 years from now, you will find it hard to improve your financial situation.

  1. Identify long term and short term goals. Most people overestimate where they will be a year from now and underestimate where they will be ten years from now. Think long-term.
  2. Apply a S.M.A.R.T strategy.

Optimize your budget to allow for happiness.

If you only save and don’t give yourself a little air to breathe, you will grow miserable and frustrated with the process pretty quickly. You shouldn’t feel deprived.

Ideally, your spread should look something like this:

50% needs
30% wants
20% savings

Stay open to opportunity. If you go about stability, you will lose. If you go for opportunity, you will find also stability.

You shouldn’t care too much if other people find you greedy, because you can manage your money better than them. You know in your heart that this is not the case.

Improve your knowledge of personal finance. If you want to really become good with money, you should constantly absorb new information on the subject.

  1. Read books
  2. Constantly feed your mind positive content.
