Gratitude vs Greed – the Enemy of Happiness

Gratitude vs Greed – the Enemy of Happiness

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on that you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
-Oprah Winfrey

Sit back and think over these words for a moment!

Now, start picturing things you don’t have that will make you happy if you had them… Imagine for a moment that the sky is the limit and everything your mind can picture, it can have. EVERYTHING! There is no such thing as a stupid desire. You can have them all…

Did you dream enough? Are you satisfied? Or did you just forget that one thing… And maybe that one little thing too… Oh, and if you had that one little thing as well…

OH, that’s stupid, right? You know deep inside you can’t have all the material objects in the world, and even if you had them, this doesn’t even begin to account for all the new cool items that constantly pop up every second!

Did you buy a new iPhone?

Do you feel miserable again?

Depressed a little, even? Maybe more?

You are on the right track!

Count the times this has happened to you?

Count how many times you said to yourself “Just this one time”…

Truth is for as long as you keep longing for material wealth you will never have enough!

Truly rich is he who is grateful for what he has and doesn’t long for what he doesn’t have!

Think of it for a moment.

You DON’T actually want all the riches in the world. You know that’s insane.

What makes you happy is actually that feeling that you have everything you want!

Try to keep it! Hold on to it.

Next time something shiny catches your eye and you start feeling depressed that you don’t have it, or angry at the person who holds it, STOP!

Thank! Thank yourself! Thank yourself for getting this far! For being able to afford what you have. Count your blessings. Thank the universe! Thank God! Thank your family and friends for supporting you! Thank, thank, thank!

Or don’t.

You can keep feeling miserable and hate yourself for not having this one other shiny item and hate the person who has it!

Joy or pain! Gratitude or Greed!

You choose!

I made my choice!
