Happiness is a choice

Happiness is a choice, even if not many people realize it. Except for extreme cases, when you have lost someone, for example, you are entirely in charge of your emotional response. You can choose to obsess forever over how someone wronged you, or you can think of something else.

Here are some tips on how to overcome negative situations and stay happy. Happiness is a choice.

Develop an attitude of gratitude. Count your blessings. Find the silver lining. Even in a very bad situation, there are still things you can be grateful for.

Smile more. Choose to laugh. A beautiful smile fills you with positive energy and can get others to smile at you in return. Do things that make you laugh, like watching comedies.

Use positive affirmations. Remember that happiness is a choice. For example, say “I am happy because…” and then find something true that makes you happy.

Start your day on your terms. Get up early and establish an empowering morning routine.

Practice self-discipline every day. Do something that takes self-discipline like budgeting, learning self-improvement, physical exercise, or mentor education.

Use your power. Even if your job doesn’t allow it, find an outlet for your talents outside of it. Do what you are good at more often.

Eat healthy food. Your mental well-being is connected to your physical health. Stay healthy and you will feel better. Happiness is a choice. You choose whether to eat healthily or not.

Be kind to others. Treat others well. Follow the golden rule. If you treat others with the same respect and kindness you think you deserve, they will respond with the same.
